To be noted here, miners and prospecters didn't wear what we would recognize as "western" clothes, or even as work clothes.
They wore three-piece suits with hats and ties. After a while at the diggins, they wore filthy, ragged three-piece suits,
and coats on top of coats. There were no men in shirt-sleeves; A shirt was considered underwear, and a working man required
at least a vest for decency's sake, as on the stagecoach driver here.
