This painting sat for eight years with its face to the wall, because I tried to put the final varnish on it in Death Valley when the weather was too dry. The varnish streaked and clouded, which was especially visible on its dark colors. I finally found a solvent fierce enough to take the damage off, and First Light joined my other work exhibited at the Kelso Depot in 2009.
