One feature of the Death Valley Art Show is the "Artist's Paint-Out". A designated artist picks a location with likely subject matter, goes there at a time announced and paints it as he or she sees it, inviting all other exhibiting or amateur artists to come along and do the same. I am much too slow and enthralled with detail to be a plein aire painter. So I went to the 2002 Artist's Paint-Out at Badwater with a Camera instead. This is what came of it a year later.
