My stagecoach travels the road between Baker and Shoshone. I think it looks quite plausible. However, it's still make-believe.
Why? Baker was founded in1908 and was named after R.C. Baker, Tonopah and Tidewater Railroad president.
Shoshone was also a stop on the Tonopah and Tonopah, founded in 1910. The railroad predated the towns: there was no need for a stage. By contrast, the boomtown of
Rhyolite to the north sprang up in 1904, before the railroads. Four stages a day served Rhyolite in 1905. The first auto stage,
from the Tonopah and Goldfield Auto Company, also became active in 1905. Next year I will paint the Rhyolite stage where it really was.
