The Paradise Range

The Paradise Range

Berlin is a 19th century mining camp turned Nevada State Park, like a miniature Bodie. Standing in front of the old stamp mill, you can see left/south down the Ione Valley toward Tonopah, and right/north up the valley toward Austin. Straight ahead is the Paradise Range. The elevation here is above 6000 feet, the weather predictably binary: you will be rained or snowed on. This time it's rain, one cell dumping its load across the valley, another advancing from the south. I took the 20-plus photographs which (taped together) were the basis for this panorama, and ran for the stamp-mill as the rain came down.
"OK," said the MVRC member who now owns The Paradise Range,"But there's one thing you didn't put in."
"What's that?"
"The rattlesnake!"
"You know where it is, don't you?"
"Yeah! It's under THERE!" (The sagebrush in the left foreground of the right panel.)
We both agreed, it's under there.
