Trinity Alps

Deer Season

We rode to the top of the ridge with gun and camera. Every time I dropped the reins to take a picture, my mare would drop her head and eat grass, which made both riding and photography difficult. At the top of the ridge we dismounted, Roger took the horses and my camera back to camp, leaving us to hunt our way back down on foot. We saw much deer-sign but no deer. But at least, in addition to very sore feet I took home one fine picture.
